June Runner of the Month

UPDATED BY Without Limits ON: Jul 05 7:52 AM

EDDIE BUCHANAN

Eddie is 60 years old and is in amazing shape.  I know he wouldn't get mad at us for talking about his age.  Eddie has brought his time down from the mid 22's for 5K down to 20:40 in less than 8 months.  Eddie works very hard and will do all the right things to stay healthy.  Eddie even said that what he does outside of running has helped him a lot and adding better habits for recovery has made a huge difference.  Eddie is limited on how many miles he can put in per week, so his training has to be quality over quantity.  He has done a great job of managing his time and intensity during his weekly running regimen.

Eddie has also done a great job asking questions.  He has learned how to race better and race harder helping him to take 2 minutes off of his 5K.  The crazy thing is, is Eddie is not done improving.  He has his eyes set on getting 1 second faster every race and over time, that will add up.
Eddie likes when we critique him and he takes that feedback and acts on it.  This is another reason for his consistent improvement.  Congrats Eddie, we are all proud of you and you continue to inspire the group with your dedication, motivation, and positive attitude.

A nice testimonial from Eddie!
WOW!  What an honor to be selected as Runner of the Month. After the initial surprise, I thought about so many other good runners that deserve this honor a lot more than me.
I owe so much to you, and all team mates for the example you set and the  encouragement you give. I have to admit I was a little apprehensive when I first joined WOL because there were so many good runners, not to mention my age, lack of experience, and being bowlegged!  But those fears went immediately away because I was welcomed by everyone at practice and I felt part of a team
WOL continues to be a wonderful thing. It has fulfilled something in me and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. It keeps me in good physical shape, enables me to be competitive in a sport I only started a few years ago, and I love it. The coaching and encouragement from you and all of my team mates are just the best.   Others will only truly know what I'm talking about when they are out there at 5:50 am, running shoulder to shoulder with great running mates and great coaches. I absolutely enjoy every minute!
Thanks so much!

Eddie
