In July of 2006 I (Tom Clifford) was working as a Personal Trainer.  I was approached by some local athletes interested in improving their running.  I decided to take the idea of personal training and incorporate it with track workouts, in hopes of addressing the growing interest for running in Wilmington.  I began holding Tuesday and Thursday morning workout sessions for local runners who wanted to improve.  After realizing how much I missed the competitive nature of the sport, I decided to get back in shape myself and begin competing.  This opened up the local running world and allowed me to build the program that was later named "Without Limits Running."  Soon after, Kristin Smith, another local trainer and athlete in town, began helping me at practices. We now have over 30 athletes training with us.   The most amazing thing about the number of athletes is that it has become a team-centered atmosphere. The runners encourage each other and work in groups to hit their paces during workouts.  The team atmosphere has allowed Without Limits to be fun and competitive.  We map out courses all over New Hanover County to hold our workout sessions Monday through Friday.  Our workouts are designed for all different running levels and skill sets.   This ranges from beginners to advanced competitive athletes.  The positive and diverse atmosphere of the program allows each athlete to move through these levels to achieve their personal goals.
